Hi! We are Beauty on Location NJ, a New Jersey based bridal makeup company that specializes in creating natural wedding day looks that have you feeling gorgeous, glowy, and the best version of yourself on your wedding day. We have been serving the New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and surrounding area for 10 years and have a team of over twenty-five talented makeup artists who travel the tri-state area to make the wedding magic happen! Each of our artists is hand-selected by the owner and founder of Beauty on Location, Amy Jones, to ensure that the artist’s style is the natural, radiant style that we are known for.

Our motto is that we want to enhance, not mask, your natural beauty on your big day. Too often we hear of brides who feel like the makeup they receive from other companies has made them feel “not like themselves”; at Beauty on Location, we strive to enhance your natural features, add a little glow, and emphasize the true essence of who you are on your wedding day. Leading up to the wedding day, there are many important steps throughout the bridal makeup process – finding your inspiration, your bridal trial, and your final look!

The first step, perhaps the most important, is finding makeup looks you love. We always encourage our brides to scour our Instagram page and to go on Pinterest, Tik Tok, and Google to find makeup looks they love. However, rather than just selecting one photo and saying you want to re-create that look, we ask brides to pick apart each photo – do you like the shadow in this but not the lipstick? Do you like the contour here but want a different brow? Being able to decipher what you like and do not like is critical to crafting the perfect look!

Once you know what look you want, it is time to schedule your bridal trial! Scheduling a trial is the fun part and can be done far in advance if you want to be confident in your makeup look from the start, can be done closer to the wedding so that your skin tone is the same (although not to worry, your artist can always color match the day of!), or can be done on a special bridal milestone like your bridal shower or engagement shoot! During the trial communication is key – show your artist your inspiration photos and explain to your artist at the start of the trial what you liked and did not like from the photos. Always keep an eye on the mirror throughout the process to tell the artist that you are loving, or not loving, a piece of your look – we promise you won’t hurt their feelings! Your artist wants to craft your picture-perfect bridal look and needs your feedback! We recommend that after your trial and throughout the planning process you talk to your planner and your bridal makeup team to ensure two things – 1) your makeup slot is second to last and 2) to consider touchups. Going second to last is important so that if things run late, you are not the one being rushed at the end! Touchups are highly recommended; we always suggest you have your artist stay until after the ceremony so that she can touch up from any tears during the ceremony.

As the big day approaches, it is time to focus on skincare! We always recommend starting hydrafacials about 6 months in advance – these powerful facials remove dead skin cells and impurities while delivering moisturizing serums into the skin. In addition, we always recommend that our brides-to-be dermaplane to exfoliate your skin and remove hair; it leaves a luminous glow and makes your makeup apply flawlessly! When the morning of the wedding arrives we recommend the Patchology de-puffing under eye gels to reduce any inflammation from stress, a few glasses of wine, or a sleepless night!

Our number one tip on the big day is to relax and enjoy yourself! Soak up the fun and excitement with your closest friends and family nearby. When its your turn for makeup as the bride, you will want to be ready to go in the chair with a clean face – your artist will moisturize you and do all necessary skin prep! Communication is still key on the big day, so be sure to tell your artist if there is anything you want adjusted!

Once your makeup is perfect and done you can focus on having the best day of your life with your soulmate, friends, and family! We love being a part of your special day and see it as such an honor to craft your wedding day makeup look!

P.S. One of our favorite tips to share with brides-to-be is to book a photographer for other wedding milestones that are smaller and more intimate. Rehearsal dinners, engagement parties, bridal showers, and engagement shoots are often overlooked when considering photography; however, capturing these moments is so special and something you do not want to overlook! They are the perfect opportunity to snapshot memories that will last a lifetime! We work closely with Chris Hill of C. Hill Photography, a Morristown-based photographer who specializes in capturing small events; he knows exactly how to capture these special moments as a bride where your closest friends and family come together! You can check out some of his recent work here, or you can find him on Instagram at @chillphotography.nj!
